Dear Member,

I wish to take this opportunity to keep you informed of the progress of our pitch development on Collins Avenue.

Our “Field of Dreams” is a huge challenge to all of us but I am sure you have witnessed the tremendous advances made in just over a year with the site clearance, drainage works, seeding and the erection of the goalposts, ball-stop netting and the pitch perimeter fence.

The Club has successfully paid for all the works completed to date without recourse to bank borrowings and this is a testament to the generosity of our membership and the strength of our club.

We are now embarking on the next phase of our development with the construction of four dressing rooms and to erect floodlights. We are confident that we can deliver on this ambition but we will need the full support of players, members and friends.

Consequently we are continuing with our fundraising efforts and we are appealing to members who have not contributed to date, and who are now in a position to support the project to please do so.

I have enclosed the various payment options available including payment through the Club Website www.whitehallcolmcille.ie The Club acknowledges the challenging economic circumstances and are happy to receive any payment on terms that suit your own personal arrangements. All payments received are appreciated and treated in confidence.

The existence of Whitehall Colmcille GAA Club has proven a positive influence for thousands of children in the area over the past 60 years. We have a vibrant and dynamic club which is playing its part in catering for the sporting requirements of the youth in the area. This new facility coupled with our Games Development Strategy will assist us in attracting more people to play sport resulting in a more active community.

I appreciate your time in considering our request for financial assistance and I look forward to hearing from you.

Dermot O’Sullivan,

Chairman Development Finance Committee.

A Chara,

After 50 years of trying, we are delighted to announce that our Executive Committee has finally secured land in the Whitehall area to construct our own pitch and clubhouse. This is brilliant news for our expanding club but it presents us with new challenges – challenges that we hope our members can unite to help meet. Our new land is situated opposite the Cinema on Collins Avenue.

The First phase of this development has begun – laying the pitch. The cost of this element of the development will be €300,000. GAA grants and current money on deposit total €65,000 so that leaves us with a shortfall of €235,000 to raise. At the Special General Meeting on the 2nd August it was agreed that each Household (Member) would be asked to consider making a contribution of €1,000 towards this cost. Any contribution received will be acknowledged and treated in the strictest of confidence. If you are not in a position to make this donation but can contribute some financial assistance then please do so.

You can pay through our new online payment system or can be paid in the following ways.

  • Lump sum
  • Monthly instalments (via online payment system)
  • Quarterly instalments (via online payment system)
  • Bi-annual instalments (via online payment system)
  • Credit Union Loan (enabling facilities are available through Larkhill & District Credit Union and Donnycarney, Beaumont & District Credit Union).
